A La Carte

Only what you need, Nothing more, Nothing less

Table Services

A proper table allows everything else downstream - the facing, rails, baffle, chamber, etc. to work correctly.  If you have a lovely mouthpiece, a beautiful chamber, a good facing, but a bad table, then nothing will work right.  All that good stuff won't serve your artistry!  So here we offer a simple solution.  We'll true up your table, we'll remove the dreaded warp, and we'll ensure that it is perfectly flat.  Or if you are of the mindset for an artfully hand applied proper table concavity, we'll happily serve.

Flat - crisp response, and increased resonance

Concave - warmer sound, artistic nuance, broader range

Rail Services

The widths of your Tip Rail and Side Rails will influence the efficiency of your reed's vibration.  Players who prefer increased resonance with faster response will like narrower rails, and players who prefer a darker tone with added working resistance will like wider rails.

Many modern dark mouthpieces on the market have rails which can benefit from narrowing to improve your response, or to add resonance to your sound.   This will add some brilliance, and freedom, so if that's okay with you, then this is a great option.

Narrow up your tip rail - Quick response, added freedom and ringing tone.

Narrow up your side rails - Faster handling, blowing freedom, and a more resonant tone.

Narrow up both your tip rail AND side rails - Super resonant, responsive, and free blowing with added zing.

NOTE:  We can widen your rails too, but that's a more extensive procedure and requires a total reface.  In this case consider our Premium Refacing Service.

Window Services

Some mouthpieces have nicks, dings, and scratches on the rails.  Perhaps your window needs some beautification and some gentle care to bring it back to specs.  Our Window Services are not meant to be a full restoration, but more of a gentle truing or clean up service to bring your mouthpiece back Into fine playing condition.

Additionally, some mouthpieces are crooked - the rails aren't perfectly symmetrical, or the rails are misshapen, and uneven. Not to worry, we can fix it!  We'll carefully sculpt and balance your mouthpiece into a thing of beauty which also measures perfectly symmetrical.  It'll end up responding with a better reliability factor and your sound will have increased richness.

Window clean up and de-nicking service - Minor scratches and dents can be gently coaxed out with heat and a or a gentle facing service.  This might require a gentle table service as well (included).

Window Balancing service - Asymmetrical rails, when properly balanced will exhibit improve response, tonal depth, and most importantly the playing feel will be easier on the embouchure.

Window widening service - Many older vintage mouthpieces were made with narrow windows - which at their best will provide good core and tonal density, but they can also add blowing resistance.  If you have a mouthpiece with rather wide rails, we can add blowing freedom and tonal warmth by widening the window from the inside.

Note:  Some old vintage mouthpieces are poorly made and while they might sound good, they are so crooked and misshapen that to fully balance and make perfect looking might just remove so much material that it'd do more harm than good!   In these cases caution and care are advised - there's only so much that can be done.  If we push it, the cure might be worse than what ails it, so in these cases we reserve the right to balance things partially.  Please consider our Premium Mouthpiece Service in these special cases.

Baffle Services

The shape of your mouthpiece's baffle will influence the sound and feel of your playing experience.  It is crucial that your reed has a true, balanced, and proper reflective surface for your sonic energy to be converted into a sound which will inspire.

Some baffles are out of whack - they're just not right.  If too high or asymmetrical, they might be the cause of some chirps and squeaks. Some baffles might be conceptually good, but implemented poorly.  Perhaps the rollover at your tip is too high, causing an irritable brightness.

A  trued-up baffle can warm up your sound, improve your response, and make your mouthpiece easier to play.

Baffle True up service - Many older vintage mouthpieces have misshapen and poorly rendered baffles, and many modern mouthpieces have very basic unimaginative baffles; both of which could benefit from our skilled hands.  With this service we'll carefully and gently improve your baffle's contour for optimum resonance, response, and tonal balance.

Bore & Throat/Chamber Services

The chamber of your mouthpiece is like a mini concert hall.  The sidewalls, the baffle, the throat all have reflective surfaces for your reed's energy to react to. These acoustic surfaces will either enhance your sound with added resonance, or soften your reeds energy with a reduction in power, focus, core, and density.

Basically smaller chambers will have more projective elements, power, tonal core, and resistance.  And larger chambers will have more freedom, tonal-body, breadth, and size.

So to serve your preferred chamber concept, whether it be small or large, your mouthpiece's bore has the subservient function of balancing it out for proper intonation.  If you play a small chamber mouthpiece, your bore should be large enough to deliver proper A=440 intonation - or whatever standard you seek.  And if you play a large chamber - your bore should balance it out so your intonation doesn't sag.  Generally speaking, smaller bores provide a tighter feel, and benefit from using a slightly softer reed, whereas larger bores feel more loose and prefer stiffer reeds to keep the pitch up.

So if you would like to broaden your sound, add some expansiveness, increase your tonal footprint within your ensemble then our bore and throat widening service can be considered as an option - assuming you are okay with your intonation going down a bit.

Our service allows you to consider the degree of material to be removed - minimal, moderate, and maximum. Do you want just a slight change, or do you seek a major change?  Remember: bigger size = lower pitch, so please consider this carefully.  Don't worry though because we are fully aware of the consequences of our actions and we won'd do anything that could cause your mouthpiece to play too low.

Reaming and opening up your mouthpiece's bore will correct a sharp mouthpiece and bring it down to proper, modern intonation standards.  It'll also broaden your sound, increasing the scope and size of your tonal body.

Please note that this is an all inclusive service. We'll evaluate your mouthpiece and determine what is the best course of action.  It might be that some reaming of the bore in combination with chamber work is the best prescription.  Or it could be that the bore is best left unchanged and that your primary focus should be in the sidewalls and throat.  We welcome your comments and will be happy to discuss the details of your mouthpiece and your desires with you.  Please feel free to leave comments in the "text box" below.  It will be helpful to know if you prefer A=440 or A=442 for instance.
